any official date---, (new album)

does anyone know if there's an official date as to when the new album will be released? apart from hearing runaway and vanderlylle cry baby live in may, i haven't heard any of their new songs yet... and well i am quite excited to say at the least. ^.^

At the Urbana-Champaign concert last night Matt said something along the lines of, "this is our last show before we go into the studio to make our next album." Of course he also said, "Wish us luck. It all goes downhill from here," and danced with a particularly old woman in attendance. Essentially, it'll be a while before they have a release date if they haven't even really started recording, but here's hoping they continue to court the geriatrics!

There are recorded tracks and demos in existence (see this old March interview with Bryce I found recently). But since in the past they seem to throw a lot out and start from scratch if they are not happy, maybe that doesn't mean a whole lot!

My money is on April 1st 2010, and to up the stakes a bit I think the album name will be Watermelon Dragonslayer

well I met bryce after one show and asked him how the album is coming along. This was at the beginning of august. He said that they have roughly 20 + songs and basically hinted that the album is beginning to take shape. He didn't say when it was going to be released specifically but hinted at the beginning of spring.

is it time to place the bets, then?

Jimbo, how are you going to coordinate all the losers to put down their share? Not feasible, I'd say. What about the one who gets closer to the date wins the album, and the one who gets the date off by the most days pays for it?

So I guess I have to take a date in May... let's go with May, 14th.

I like Dragonfly as a title, but the Watermelon won't fly. Remember it will start by a C (Dragonfly will be their 6th LP ). Are we betting on the title too?

I could just calculate how much everyone owes and then have them pay me that amount to my paypal account, but I agree that it would probably turn into a messy situation. I also agree the the furthest one off should pay, and if someone throws a hissy and doesn't want to pay, I'll just do it...

Another very good point. I guess we could all just take the week with the day we have guessed. If we do that, then it current standings would be:

Kern: Feb 22nd - Feb 28 (figure sometime in winter 2010. I'd bet sometime in Feb. )
klsike: March 15 - March 21 (Alrighty, I'll take March 20!)
Jimbo: March 29 - April 4 (Original guess April 1st)
another_uninnocent: May 10 - May 16 (Let's go with May, 14th.)
cerejita: May 10 - May 16 (I´m in for May 15th...)

So we have a couple of problems here. First, another_uninnocent and cerejita are gonna have to somehow figure out who gets May 10 - 16 (I vote for some sort of "The National" Karaoke contest via yourtube ). Second, I just realized with the rules as they are klsike and I are exempt from having to pay the winner (as there is no way we could be furthest from the date).

If you want, when the album is announced, all the people who didn't win could pay me on paypal and I could pre-order the album on Amazon (or wherever) and have it sent to the winner. OR we could just all pay the winner via paypal assuming they have an account. What do you think? Any better I ideas or did I overlook anything?
