Jason Isbell - Sirens of the Ditch.

There should be a word for breathlessly anticipating something and then being surprised that the something is different than what you were expecting.

The Hold Steady - Stuck Between Stations on BBC 6 Music. This band still does nothing for me.

The album has really started to grow on me. Was at a party on Saturday, and found I was singing “gonna walk around, walk around, walk around and drink” to myself

Big Hold Steady and Lifter Puller fan, so I can't be too impartial, but there are moments in Boys and Girls that are stunning. I guess the best example I always put forward is Citris and the rather great lyrics:

I love Finn's stories of suburban kids consumed by coming of age, guilt, drugs, religion and the moments falling between teen boredom and incredibly fast living.
Not trying to convert you or anything, but BaGIA is a great album.

Bruce Springsteen - Lift Me Up

I like The Hold Steady a lot too. Party Pit is my favorite from the Boy and Girls, but Stevie Nix from Separation Sunday is like the greatest rock song of the 2000's, I think. Or the 00's. Whatever you wanna call this decade we're in.

I'm a big Hold Steady fan, I started a thread about them on here a while. I didn't get into them until Boys & Girls in America though. It was one of if not my favorite album of 06. They had an in-store performance at our local indie store where you could also have coffee and donuts with the band, but I missed it! Still angry at myself over that.
