according to the BBC - i'm guessing they'll be second from top of the Bill. Also on the bill for the John Peel Stage are Band of Horses and Spiritualized

They are on the Guardian Music site as headlining the John Peel stage as well... official line up isn't released till May 1st though.

they've annouced the lineup early due to press leakage - The National are closing the John Peel tent on Sunday (with Spiritualized on before them!!!)

oh my i nearly bought a ticket... i dont think i can afford it !

I have to say seeing the National would be a magnificent end to a long festival day.

Anyone else at Glastonbury to see them? Still can't believe that not only they are going to be there for my first Glastonbury but they are also going to end the weekend biggrin.gif

There certainly ain't a better band to end the festival for me smile.gif

Some highlights will be on BBC2 on Sunday smile.gif

cool! they may show some of it on bbci and if we're very lucky they'll stream the set online for a week

Deakers- 06-29-2008
Have just seen them perform Slow Show on BBC3 thanks to Edith championing them as her festival highlight - even though she hadn't been able to watch the full set! What good taste she has! Anyway, they were on form as usual, hope that BBC transmit more of the set. Really looking forward to Leeds on Tuesday!

full set list anyone?

Rahaha- 06-30-2008
no idea, apparently they showed some of it on BBCi last night (i wouldnt know as my freeview box is broken)

fingers crossed they'll stick some video highlights on the website... also i suggest everyone goes and watches Elbow's set cause its amazing!

Deakers- 06-30-2008
It was very late last night when I was watching it - started at about 1:15 on BBCi. Set list was something like:

Start a war
Brainy
Secret Meeting
Slow Show
Mistaken for Strangers
Racing Like a Pro
Abel
Fake Empire (dedicated to John Peel I think)

Not sure about exact order though! I would have assumed they actually played more tracks than this?

Tried to record it but for some reason it didn't work mad.gif If it goes up on DIME I'll try to get it though.

Rahaha- 06-30-2008
booo! bad luck! if i was at my mums i would have taped it (i normally watch most of glasto on bbci except for last year when i went!)

you can watch slow show here...

its 1 hour and 20 minutes in...

Was there and they were absolutely incredible, by far the best band I saw in the weekend as I had expected before, it was such a special end to a great festival.

The band seemed on top form and it amazed me how passsionate these guys seemed to be, they put on a superb show, must be one of their best performances. It appears BBC didn't show much of their set as it was an hour and a quarter and the setlist was this, not neccessarily in the complete correct order but as good as could remember.

Start A War
Brainy
Secret Meeting
Baby, We'll Be Fine
Slow Show
Mistaken For Strangers
All the Wine
Apartment Story
Squalor Victoria
Racing Like A Pro
Abel
Fake Empire
Mr November (Where Matt came off the stage and came to the crowd to sing the last part of the song)
-----------------
About Today

Was disappointed to see a small crowd in the tent for them compared to other bands I had seen on that stage but the ones that did turn up certainly would have enjoyed themselves.

The set is on the BBC Glasto site.

hehe yep, watching now on my old computer which can barely hand videos. Haha

great set! hehe really looking forward to Thursday now!!! The crowd does look a bit small but i'm guessing it was full of people who wanted to hear a good band (the glasto lineup was pretty pants this year - the only good stuff was on saturday and sunday and it was pretty much between the peel stage and the park, with a handful of bands on the other stage)

i suggest everyone watches the video highlights of Elbows set!
