| Hey all, I meant to post this a couple of days ago (i.e. Boxing Day), but I'm from Canada and a little slow eh? How does that South Park song go? smile.gif (Actually, I was out of town visiting the folks for Christmas and an internet connection was not sitting under the tree when I got there. BTW, as a warning... no internet + rum & eggnog + bonk on the head from a snowboard wipeout = early 90s flashbacks in full force. Beware, beware). Anyway, so here's what it is: A FULL AUDIO RECORDING of The National's October 3rd set at Vancouver's famous Commodore Ballroom. http://download.yousendit.com/BAC2DE0D52DE3877 This "podcast" was whipped together on Final Cut Pro from a <PTML> video experiment that is ongoing and will be of interest to you in the near future hopefully (need to track down that Mr. Moon once again). The sound is good as it's mostly a mix of the stereo soundboard feed and various camera mics, though this current version is a rough pass. I think overall it took a few songs before the overall sound mix between the band members and in the venue as a whole was finally locked in, but it's interesting to hear it work itself out, I find. There's also a bit of an end-of-the-tape-and-need-to-switch workaround at tail end of the show that I tried to do the best I could with and should do the job. The "podcast" (m4a file) has been chapterized by song and enhanced with some of the random photos that you might have seen on the band's website. You can convert it to an mp3 but will lose the chapters and images. There's also a rough video edit excerpt - we had six freakin' cameras running! - to follow sometime before this year is done. Stay tuned! Enjoy the show and the holiday season, humbugs and mistletoes and all the rest. Thanks to Matt and Scott and the rest of the guys for their open-to-ideas attitude when it comes to media experimentation and other designerly wankery I send their way wink.gif cheers, Joel (in Vancouver) |
