Here's a link to two of the Project Nim records. That's Bryan and the Dessners, I think. Pretty good. The files are in mp4.

Had this on the "Boxing Day presents" post, but I guess i should post it here too...

Hey all,

I meant to post this a couple of days ago (i.e. Boxing Day), but I'm from Canada and a little slow eh? How does that South Park song go? smile.gif

(Actually, I was out of town visiting the folks for Christmas and an internet connection was not sitting under the tree when I got there. BTW, as a warning... no internet + rum & eggnog + bonk on the head from a snowboard wipeout = early 90s flashbacks in full force. Beware, beware).

Anyway, so here's what it is: A FULL AUDIO RECORDING of The National's October 3rd set at Vancouver's famous Commodore Ballroom.

This "podcast" was whipped together on Final Cut Pro from a <PTML> video experiment that is ongoing and will be of interest to you in the near future hopefully (need to track down that Mr. Moon once again). The sound is good as it's mostly a mix of the stereo soundboard feed and various camera mics, though this current version is a rough pass. I think overall it took a few songs before the overall sound mix between the band members and in the venue as a whole was finally locked in, but it's interesting to hear it work itself out, I find. There's also a bit of an end-of-the-tape-and-need-to-switch workaround at tail end of the show that I tried to do the best I could with and should do the job.

The "podcast" (m4a file) has been chapterized by song and enhanced with some of the random photos that you might have seen on the band's website. You can convert it to an mp3 but will lose the chapters and images. There's also a rough video edit excerpt - we had six freakin' cameras running! - to follow sometime before this year is done. Stay tuned!

Enjoy the show and the holiday season, humbugs and mistletoes and all the rest. Thanks to Matt and Scott and the rest of the guys for their open-to-ideas attitude when it comes to media experimentation and other designerly wankery I send their way wink.gif

cheers,

Joel (in Vancouver)

Beggars website - click on the artists link, find The National, scroll down and add in the barcode of your CD.

I just tried that and keep getting this page cannot be displayed. Is it possible that it's no longer available?

This song I'm putting up is a live version of the song "Dynamite Walls" by Hayden, in which The National serves as backing band (The brothers Dessner and bassist Devendorf).
It was recorded on the extensive Boxer tour when Hayden opened for the band. Its a cool song.
Check it out.

enjoy....

oh and it case you missed the "Douche Rant" on Matt's year end "Whats Important To Me" video....

dont call people douches. especially if youre doing it from behind a keyboard and have no other talents except calling artists and musicians douches.

"Dynamite Walls" is great - thanks for sharing! Do you know where it was recorded? Excellent sound quality, too.

Makes me wish I'd recorded Doveman's set in Buffalo, since he was backed by The National (minus Matt) for his entire set.

Thanks for the dynamite walls mp3 - makes me go back to their stockholm gig.

Not sure which one you meant, but hopefully these links from the Last.fm The National group still work.

thanks, i didnt realize there were two different sessions. both links seem to have expired though

I uploaded the two Black Sessions to my web host. I don't know how long they'll be up there, but I'll try and keep them for a while. Should download rather quickly, at least for people in the US anyway.

hey all

I'm trying to find a sound board recording of any show from the entire Boxer tour.
i've been searching and searching around this forum as well as the internet, and I just cant seem to find anything.

There's the odd crowd recording, which are great, but i'd love to have something with perfect audio. I've also got the 3 Black and white sessions, which are as close as i've come at this stage.

has anyone got anything? Or can someone point me in the right direction?

Also... has anyone ever managed to get their hands on a dvd of a National show? Just wondering if they're easy to come by.

Cheers
