Just thought it would be nice to have a thread where we could discuss movies.

Yesterday I saw 'The Assassination of Richard Nixon' and I thought it was great. The overall feeling of the movie is like a song from Springsteens album 'Nebraska'. And Sean Penn kind of reminded me of my father, with the moustache and all. Overall I'd give it an 7 out of 10.

Other movies I think that you must see:
Letters from Iwo Jima
The Departed
Saving Private Ryan
Natural Born Killers
The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou
Garden State
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
Lost In Translation

...and many more of course, these are just the ones that comes to my mind this moment.

I thought Spider-Man 3 was kind of dissapointing.

I thought that SpiderMan 3 was trying to fit too much into it...so none of the stories were able to flesh themselves out.

The best movie I've seen recently was "Grindhouse" I think that is a must see. And I still need to go out and rent The Departed...ugh! I really want to see that movie.

Spidey 3 was a dissapointment - but only 'cos the other 2 are so good. It was kinda like Raimi couln't be bothered with the new one though, it didn't see to have his heart in it.

Best film I've seen recently and probarbly this year "This Is England" - totally amazing. Shane Meadows is ace - and he likes great music, has anyone checked out the Dead Mans Shoes Soundtrack??? He even manged to fit a Gravenhurst song in "T.I.E." one of my fave bands.

That was a large part of it, and as a former hardcore comic reader, I think they totally screwed up Venom. Not to mention making Eddie Brock so damn annoying and making emo Peter Parker.

Haven't seen Spider-Man 3 yet, but those I know who have seen it are saying pretty much the same thing about it as you are. So I'm not sure if I'm going to see it at all. unsure.gif

Wouldn't be a bad choice to wait for it on video.

These are spot on my kind of movies. These three you named are all in my top 5.

I can't even describe my loove for them, so I'm not even gonna try.

I saw spiderman 3 a few days ago. It was ok, not more not less... As I expected, a superhero-movie tongue.gif

The Pick Of Destiny is pretty entertaining, I don't think that Jack Black can fail.

Went to see 28 Weeks Later last night. Not quite as good as the first one I thought but still excellent.

Also - got to see the trailer for the new Transformers movie. Call me shallow but it looks absolutely amazing!!!!!

if there is a better film than Withnail & I, The Big Lebowski or the first two Godfathers, then I am yet to see it.

Seen it, and I agree. It looks awesome, but so does most trailers. My guess is that it's gonna suck, but I still want to see it.

I actually watched a film last night, I don't watch many due to my habit of falling asleep in the cinema, but I managed to stay away for the whole of This is England. Really powerful film about 1980's Britain and worth a watch - not that my opinion on films is worth much!

allthewine- 05-21-2007
I watched "Half Nelson" the other day after seeing all of the amazing reviews it got. I thought it was terrible and hard to watch.
