What do people make of the ideas for the 24 movie? I can't see how it will work, because the whole point of the show is that each episode ends in a cliffhanger and there are so many twists. I think it would be difficult to incorporate all that in roughly two hours. Plus one of the main appeals to 24 is that it's all in real time. The other thing I have an issue with is making it a prequel to the very first series, given how much Kiefer Sutherland in particular has aged. I just don't think the film's a very good idea.
Yeah. It's hard to imagine them doing a 24 hour long movie, so the idea kind of sux. It would probably be like a season recap.

Has anyone seen Control? I went yesterday and left the cinema uncertain as to whether I loved it or hated it. Last night I did have dreams about Ian Curtis and have thought about him all day today . Poor beautiful flawed Ian.

I haven't heard about it 'til now. But I'm sure gonna watch it when I have a chance. And right now it's an 8.4 rating at IMDB, so I think you should love it.

Went to watch Control tonight. Its quite good. Its well shot anyway, but there's quite alot of missing aspects from the book. Thats if you've read it. It also doesn't show how troubled he truly was, but I suppose the important content of the book fits the 2hrs of film its been given. The actor does a decent potrayal of Ian and his onstage persona. The rest is really just artistic license.

Feels funny that the 10,000 Things singer is the guy who plays Ian Curtis! I'll post one of their songs if anyone is curious.

I just finished watching the Battle of Algiers, and I couldn't help but reflect on how relevant it is to certain events occurring in the world right now.

That's really weird. I watched that on Tuesday. Grueling watch, mind you.

I liked Control. It looked good, was well acted, witty script. Though I didn't enjoy it, I was too busy thinking 'oh, but no, this doesn't end well'.
I want to see Once! But it's not on anywhere. Rah!

My friend convinced me to see Superbad the other day... I didn't have high expectations but it turned out to be really funny at times... Yeah, it's one of those "teen movies" with nothing special to remember them by, but I found myself laughing to tears several times during the movie. I recommend it to anyone that likes to laugh.

I just saw the Coen brother's latest, "No Country for Old Men", yesterday and was impressed. I've always loved Cormac McCarthy's writing (the Crossing is a personal favorite) and feel that they did justice to the source material. Honestly, it was one of the more perfect cinematic experiences I've had in ages. The only thing that disappointed me was how confused most of the audience seemed to be when the credits rolled. It's easy to feel like the only person in the world who actually enjoys being challenged by art when so many people would rather be spoon-fed "Hollywood-approved" Cheerios for the rest of their lives. Ironically the movie was an existential meditation on motivation. Here's hoping you get the humor in that...

I know that feeling too. Most people don't appreciate movies that makes you think. And sure, sometimes I just want to pass the time by watching a movie but mostly I want to get some kind of experience out of seeing a movie.
Unfotunately it seems, to me, that those mind blowing movies are getting fewer and harder to discover. Usually I just wait to hear what movies win prizes at, let's say, the Cannes Film Festival.

Double posting here, but I just saw the trailers for 'I'm Not There' and I've never been more psyched about a movie. Can't wait until it comes to Sweden. Apparently it premieres here February 8th. I might download it, if it comes out in decent quality, and watch it at home but I'm going to watch it in a theater anyway.
For those who don't know what 'I'm Not There' is about, I suggest you go here: www.imnotthere-movie.com

I thought it was a pretty odd experiment putting Cate Blanchett as one of those to play Dylan, but it actually looks like she might pull it off! I'm looking forward to it too. It helps that Christian Bale is one of my favourite actors. I really want to see Rescue Dawn.
Did anyone see American Gangster? It's out at the cinema over here and I was debating whether to see it or not.

You should definitely see it.

Agreed! There's times that all I want to do is watch some asinine blood and guts, big explosions, stupid ass one-liners, T&A filled, swords and spaceships, giant monsters crushing cardboard cities, snakes on a motherfuckin' plane-type movies! Though those moments are few and far between, or so I like to convince myself. But I get really disappointed when I go see a movie that's been crafted with beauty and care and people respond to it like it's a turd circling round their toilet bowl. "What was that?!" "Huh?" "I don't get it..." Drives me up a wall!
I'm glad to see you're interested in I'm Not There too! Dylan's long been a personal hero, as far as artists go, and I'm anxious to see what kind of treatment Todd Haynes gives him. I personally think seeing Cate Blanchett do a Eat the Document era Dylan should be worth the price of admission alone!
On a different note, I was pleasantly surprised by Across the Universe. Though it could have done without a sequence or two, I really think they did a good job of bringing Beatles songs to life in a pretty unique way.
