Was introduced to these kids when they opened up for Clap Your Hands. Unfortunately, I was out of town and couldn't go to that show...and just caught them for the first time up in Seattle (amazing show!).

good stuff!

Hi everyone.

I'm Martin, and come from Norway. Was recommended The National on another forum and instantly fell in love with Boxer, and later Alligator, and the ssfdl, I still have to hear their self titled album. When I found out that they were coming to chilly Norway (I felt special that that site mentioned us in particular tongue.gif ) I got very exited, and I'll deffinetly be seeing them when they come.

Hello, I'm Richard (for now)
I'm from south- east Ireland. I haven't read all the posts in this thread so i don't know if I'm the only one.

I've never heard anyone mention the National before. Boxer got 9/10 in a music magazine over here so I decided to buy the album a couple of weeks ago. I was surprised by the album- it could be described as "deep" (or else I'm talking out of my arse). I keep coming back to it so it must be good. I havent managed to find Alligator anywhere though, but I'll keep looking

^ that's one of the best user names i've ever seen. i was in a rush when making mine, but also had giggles in mind when people said it to themselves. you sir, are good.

i'd like to try this introduction thing again after failing miserably before.

thank you The National. i've fallen for you big time, have nearly your entire catalogue in my possession, have seen you perform brilliantly live and recommend you to everyone i know. and we only met in March of this year.

i come on strong but have great intentions and look forward to a lasting relationship. that goes for everyone who's chalked me up for an ass.

I'm Koen, 24-year Belgian student.
I discovered The National when Boxer came out, and have been listening to them pretty much constantly ever since.
Yesterday I saw them live for the first time at Rock Herk, to my great astonishment for free, where they made the most of its crappy sound system.
Looking forward to their next performance in Belgium November 12th, at Belgium's best venue, the Ancienne Belgique.

About time I finally got around to doing this. I hail from Adelaide, South Australia. I first came across the National from an Uncut magazine which had "About Today" on it. From there I proceeded to raid my local record stores for anything National-centric that I could find. I am a self confessed devotee to The National, its been a 3-and a bit enduring lurve affair. Outside of my fandom, I am a music post graduate, performing muso and sound artist and I teach music technology at my university. Aside from that I like mid-price wine and cook omlettes and risottos occasionally.

hey, I'm new here. My name is Katrien, 20 years old student History and I fell in love with The National a year ago. I saw them a while ago here in Belgium at Rock Herk. It was my first encounter with this magnificent band live. I waved and smiled at Aaron after the concert (I was in the very front), Aaron waved and smiled back. That was very nice of him.
AND I got the setlist, which I'm very proud off. I got it framed and now it's on my bedroom wall.

Now I really want to go see them in November, but I don't know anyone who is willing to go with me. Any Belgians around??

take care everyone!

I first read about The National in the july issue of SPIN. The article mentioned that Sufjan Stevens played piano on a couple tracks - including Ada. I love Sufjan, so that was enough to get me interested, but my name is Ada, too. I've never been able to find anything personalized and most other Adas are in their 80's (i'm 24) so I looked The National up on myspace, i fell in love and their music has been in heavy rotation at my house ever since.
