Does anyone else think the newcomers thread should be re-named 'Mistaken For Strangers'?
interesting idea, but I think it might confuse members not familiar with the forum...

Hi everyone, I'm Tom and I live in Brooklyn. The National rock. The first time I saw them, people were calling out songs they wanted to hear. Berninger, pointing his finger, fired out "No, no, aannnd .....no. " It was pretty dry, but funny. Everything was o.k. though 'cause a few secs later the band gave them something else and the place went nuts. That whole moment was kinda cool.

Hello everyone! I'm a noob National fan. I got into them in early summer. I loved "Boxer" the first time I heard it. I also love "Alligator" but have yet to go further backward in the National catalog (but have plans to of course).
(P.S. I also post over at the Us Kids Know forum under the same handle.)

Hello all!! I'm new here. I've been listening to the National for a few years but I've only now motivated myself to join the forum. I live in New York City.

Hi there, I'm Mark and i live in the U.K. I too have been listening to the National for years, but unfortunately i haven't been able to see them live yet. If they come again, i'll be first on the list.

Hi, my name is Paul and I live in Holland. I saw the National once (3 weeks ago) in Amsterdam. Of course front line! I'm a National-fan for quite some time now and believe this is the best band out there.
hi...call me light...found the community on christmas eve, 2007, looking for the lyrics to "gospel"...would love it if someone could guide me there and also clarify why i cant get an avatar uploaded...you listen to music as long as i have listened to music...after a while just any music won't do...found the national on my son's ipod this fall and have fallen in love with the music...i am just ankle deep into my comprehension of all things national...

Hi, I've been lurking around here for a while and finally registered today. I'm totally mad about The National since I saw them live at the Olympia in Dublin. One of the best gigs I've ever been, they were absolutely amazing.
Cause above someone mentioned it; it would be so funny if this thread was named Mistaken For Strangers.

To the last poster: Nice Name Been listening nonstop for the last 8 months. Saw the band live twice and was blown away.

I thought that too when I saw your name. It's funny that we started posting around the same time.

Sorry that I'm responding this a month late, but I hadn't seen it. Anywho, sabby is right. While the other forum headings are named after National lyrics (i.e. Under the Cherry Tree, Two Sets of Headphones), we can't make them all that way. It is a very creative idea to use MFS for the thread title, but people wouldn't know what the hell was going on. Thanks for the suggestion!

Hi! I'm Jonathan, and I'm kicking myself for not finding The National earlier. A week or so ago Itunes suggested I might like the band, so I picked up Alligator, felt my brain explode at the purity and power of the album, picked up the other three albums (I still need to grab the EPs), and have been listening to nothing but ever since. I've listened to Alligator about 25 times already, and am getting into The Boxer now. I haven't been this psyched about a band in ten years.

That was EXACTLY how I reacted the first time I heard Alligator. You've come to the right place!

Hey, I'm Mark from Boston Mass. I stumbled across the band several months ago and have been completely blown away. This is the way I like music to sound, the drumming is absurd, smooth bass, complementary guitars, baritone voice rolling depth laden lyrics as if they were elementary quips (It's like, hold up, did he just say that? Play it again!). I'm here mostly for the guitar tabs, but I'll be damned if I will miss this band live the next time they storm through the Bean. Anyone from Boston feel free to shoot me a message, hell, anyone from anywhere feel free.

Hey, I'm Lina from Timmins Canada and no, I've never met Shania Twain My mate from England introduced me to the National a few years ago and I fell in love with them. Saw them in Toronto in October and I was blown away by their stage presence and brilliant music. Love all their albums !!! Can't wait for their next one .
