We all play a bit and used to jam away there records till the early hours in each others bedrooms. Those days were alot of fun, no bills, less problems and more time!

Anyway.. I finaly saw them live yesterday at there Manchester gig and they where Incredible and id like to find some of there live bootlegs.

I am here because I dig the music and want to learn more.

bigquestions- 11-17-2007

I've been scouring the boards for the past 6 months but I just started posting. I just started listening to 'THE NATIONAL' earlier this year (I'm a late-bloomer!) and I'm already a huge fan!

I've since picked up most of the releases I can find and I was Blown Away when I saw them for the 1st time back in September!!

Seems to be a Great group of fans, and I have to say I'm Happy I found this place!!

I LOVE the "BOXER" album!!!

I can't help but ask, are you a Jazz Butcher fan?

Me, too! Because I found out already what makes my heart sing... cool.gif
Actually, I love the Jazz Butcher for a lot of the same reasons I love the National: smart lyrics, outstanding vocals, killer guitars. The National also have godlike percussion on their side, although the Butcher has had some excellent drummers too.

Hello everyone

I'm Brett. People call me 'Spaceman'. If anyone knows me from elsewhere...erm...hi.

I just wanted to say I think it's a great idea to have a forum for The National. They are such an interesting band I think they merit it easily.

Whatever you need or wish to know about me is okay. Like all of us, I guess, I love music. I saw the guys last week in Brussels which was a thrill as I had not seen them play before. erm what else. Other bands - too many to mention. Oh and I'm really tall! 6.5". Top that.

I can't believe they didn't play Guest Room. sad.gif

They played it in Detroit...but then they skipped Michigan completely on this last tour. unsure.gif

Thanks both Rosemary and Mozart face. I guess I feel less 'swindled' now. Plus I certainly don't wish to dwell on the negative. Guest Room is just a personal fave. (That bass!!!) I suppose I assumed it'd rank above some of the others which were included on the set list.

There's a lesson there. Never assume.

Hi, I'm Jeen, a 30-year-old guy from the Netherlands.

I got hooked on The National when I first heard 'Alligator' over two years ago and have been following developments ever since. Will be having my first live experience (at last) coming Wednesday, when they will be performing in the Melkweg in Amsterdam, so I figured it was about time I signed up to this forum.

That's all for now. smile.gif

Joel- 11-25-2007
Hey folks, I'm Joel (as you've probably already spotted!). I'm a 24 yo music nerd/obsessive, so I'm disappointed with myself for not having picked up The National sooner! I bought Boxer almost on impuse, having heard a track on a magazine sampler CD. I'm still not sure what it was about that song ('Slow Show' off Boxer) that made me want to buy it, it was (and still is) unlike anything else. There was a sense of something special about it even before it really sunk in, so I'm glad my gamble paid off.

I live about an hour south of Sydney, Australia. I'm hoping to get to know some other National fans in the area in time for January's Sydney Festival performances by the boys. Would be good to be able to meet people rather than being a loner!

Hello, I'm Antti from Helsinki, Finland...I will be seeing/hearing The National live for the first time this saturday in Stockholm! Pretty darn psyched about that. biggrin.gif

I'm Jordan, from Buffalo, New York. Had heard something about them a couple months ago, but when I read the Paste article, I thought "I have to check them out." Unfortunately, they've already played Buffalo recently, so maybe no shows here for a while, but I'm in love with Alligator and Boxer, especially, and have already been making mixes and whatnot for friends despite being onto these guys for about a week.
peace!

Does anyone else think the newcomers thread should be re-named 'Mistaken For Strangers'?
