I'm Marcos, 25, and I was first introduced to the National through reviews like this:

However once I heard their music myself I formed a very different opinion, and have been a loyal fan since.

Hi to all.

Got into the National through being a fan of the Tindersticks/Stuart Staples. They're both on Beggars Banquet in the UK. Which, amongst quite a few others, has been one of my favourite indie labels since the eighties.

I did have a break in the early 00s from collecting music though as I have had a few health issues, but since digging out my Tindersticks records/cds again and then discovering the National in and amongst other American indie bands I've had a bit of a resurgence in listening to music. It has certainly helped me through the darker days anyway.

Anyway I'm not here to moan about that, so hello to all anyway, and I'll probably have float about on these boards from time to time to see whats happening.

hey, I'm danny, 22 and I live in South Florida which is kind of a lonely place for a fan of indie and punk rock but I make due wink.gif. First heard about The National through some music blogs that I visit regularly around when Boxer came out. I was interested but ended up getting Alligator first and, while I had heard it was a grower, was hooked immediately. I couldn't stop listening to it, but I did eventually get Boxer and Sad Songs... and the obsession is only growing. Amazing band and I should be seeing my first show in September, can't wait.

Hello all! I'm Mairead and I'm from Ireland.
I can't even remember where or when I discovered the National, but I quickly fell in love with thier music...
I'm a student... and, um... yeah.

hello...i'm abdul and i live in east London (which is in some ways unfortunate)...i, like a surprising number of people, first heard of The National reading Planet Sound magazine, when it named Alligator as its 2nd best album of 2005, listened to it non-stop for about 5weeks...and then got boxer a few weeks ago, which is a brilliant follow-up...what i love about thier music is the fact that it is almost alwasy refreshing...i never get tired of listening to any of their CDs, so they've got a permanent place on top of my CD player

...i'm also very fond of ellipses (pretty evident)

hello. i am obsessed with this band...i've gotten some really good links to some rarities, B-sides, live cuts ..etc from here...so i figured id come on so i can share what i have with people...(Which is alot) im sure you have most of it already....but if theres anything i can give you...feel free to ask. im new at using this...so be patient if im retarded in getting links and stuff up(im sort of computer illeterate.)

keith.

Newbie. . . . . Here because I love this band. . . . . First intrigue was from the website Aquarium Drunkard. . . . Heard some songs. . . . Kinda liked it. . . . Picked up Alligator about a year and a half after it came out. . . . Felt like I was too late to the party and didn't give it it's due. . . . Heard "All the Wine" a bit later and loved it. . . . Went back to Alligator and gave it another chance. . . . Still didn't grab me. . . . Picked up an advance copy of "Fake Empire" and loved the Larry Mullen-style drumming. . . . Got Boxer 2 weeks after its release. . . . Thought it was okay. . . . Was urged to try it again. . . . Liked it okay. . . . Was introduced to The Black Sessions by Aquarium Drunkard. . . . Really liked it. . . . Was introduced to The White Sessions over on Nine Bullets (Drive-By Truckers Board). . . . Loved it (heavily aided by lead track "Start a War"). . . . Can't stop listening since. . . . Why did it take me so long to see the light?

My name is Tim. You killed the radio star. Prepare to die.

I was introduced to The National first by the now defunct School Kids Records here in Ann Arbor. Knowing my taste in music he suggested I buy Boxer.

Then a online friend from one of the running forums I frequent suggested I buy this record.

I did and I have been in love ever since.

I think I have all the official releases other than Cherry Tree.

The more I listen the more I appreciate this band.

Had Boxer, Alligator, and The National. Picked up Sad Songs For Dirty Lovers this weekend. I also downloaded The Black Sessions and The White Sessions a few weeks back. It's been full go with these guys for close to 3 weeks now. Zero regrets.
