Attention, Michigan (and nearby) folk:

This is purely rumor mill right now, but I was told the other day by a very reliable source in the GR music scene that Calvin College is planning to bring Our Lads to town sometime in the spring semester.

You can keep an eye on the Calvin events calendar here.

You might be my new best friend.

I'll add to that rumor. Bryce played with Sufjan there last year.

Also, keep an eye on the REM tour for this spring and, in particular, the openers. Just sayin' . . . ph34r.gif

Hopefully they are playing the performance hall, the best sound I've heard, Hands down. The show would be ticketed and the odds of me getting a decent seat are never very good. Sigur Ros was amazing there a few years back.

The downside about Calvin concerts is that you can't enjoy a tasty beverage during the show; the upside is that if any jerkweeds start yakking, the Calvinists trot right over, kill them dead, and send them to eternal hellfire on the spot.

Every artist I've seen who's performing there for the first time is completely freaked out by how adoringly silent the audience is during the songs and how friggin' insanely loud the applause and screaming are between songs.

Ever seen a show at MSU auditorium? I'll take no brews if they will play performance hall at Calvin.

Yes. The sound was abysmal. (at MSU)

Its much better since they added the permeant seating. Still Calvin or the Hill in ann arbor would be awesome.

Dang, sorry kern and Rosemary (et al.), but since the Calvinists have gone with both Iron&Wine (w/Califone) and Broken Social Scene for April, I'm guessing their attempts to score the Nats were in vain, for the moment. These are deep, deep pockets, so probably schedules didn't mesh. I can't imagine they'd be adding another major spring show on top of those two and Josh Ritter, but y'never know.

As you might suspect, though, Sam Beam sounds grrrrrrreat in the Calvin Fine Arts Center, so that's some consolation.

You are nothing but a tease! laugh.gif
