First of all, yes the rumors are true and our boys will be headed to California. But that will obviously be a separate thread.

Overall I think the previous years had a much better lineup. Don't get me wrong, there are definitely a few highlights for me (Animal Collective, Minus The Bear, Stephen Malkmus, St. Vincent, Akron Family, Black Mountain).

But ... Jack Jonhson and ROGER WATERS playing fucking Dark Side of the Moon as headliners? I'm sorry but that just totally kills the theme for me.

It really bothers you that one of the most important figures in the history of rock music will be there playing what many people consider the greatest album in the history of rock music? Seriously? I'm the least nostalgic person I know, yet Roger Waters is one of the five bands/artists that I'd most like to see at Coachella (along with Stars, Linton Kwesi Johnson, The National, and Vampire Weekend).

As for Jack Johnson, I'm not really a fan but he is so freaking huge. I know several people over the age of 50 and under the age of 15 that own JJ CD's. That's pretty cool.

Does it bother me? No. I have never said it did. I am a Waters fan and a pretty fluent Floyd fan for that matter. I could probably tell you at least the majority of the songs on every album. Now, granted I was more of a fan when Syd Barrett led the band and my favorite Pink Floyd album was Piper at the Gates of Dawn. I have no problem with the whole Dark Side reunion tour (which has going on for how long now?). But do I really see it as a headlining tour for COACHELLA? I dunno, but I don't myself really think of seeing Les Savy Fav or Rilo Kiley leaving the stage for an aging classic rocker coming out to rip away into "Money" say where RATM reunited last year. I hope they at least trick out the main stage psychedelically for his set. Maybe even return the flying pigs into the audience, that would be a good counter to the Wayne Coyne of the Lips going out in the bubble years back.

I think your assessment of JJ is what has everyone so upset. Since when has it been about someone being huge? When I first read that he would be a headliner I thought it was a joke, or they accidentally bumped up his font on the lineup poster. Again, if I am to reference to past headliners, you have Jack playing songs off of his Curious George soundtrack to what I'm sure Goldenvoice is hoping is a real "chillout" type of crowd where you once had Radiohead or Tool.

To me, it is just a letdown. Is it a horrible festival that I would not go to? No. But I also would not pay to go to this one. My girlfriend and I had considered caving in and getting tickets this year (which also kind of sparked when we found out "the boys" were going to be there this year), but with this lineup I don't think I would be down. Like I said though, there are some gems: Minus The Bear, Malkmus, Rilo Kiley, MMJ, ect.

My apologies. I had no idea that there was an ongoing DSOTM reunion tour going on, as I've been living in SE Asia for awhile. That does indeed make Waters' appearance less impressive.

As for Jack Johnson, I guess it's all about the way he got huge. On And On debuted at #1 when it was released and at the point I had never seen him on TV or heard a single one of his songs on the radio. It's just nice in this day and age when an artist gets popular solely because people like the music.

Overall, I think the lineup is far weaker this year, although the headliners are slightly better. I wouldn't have paid $20 to see any of last year's headliners.

Portishead and Spiritualized on the same bill as The National?? I'm there....

Roger Waters "Dark Side of the Moon Live Tour" is not a reunion tour, as far as I know. Sometimes Nick Mason plays with him, but none of the other Pink Floyd members play with him.

Sure they did reunite for one six-song gig at the 'Live-8'-concert. But that was according to Roger Waters only a one time thing.
