I read a book from start to finish without stopping last night, I'd never ever read a book like that before...I've sat for hours on end reading but I've never completed a book in one sitting. It was an amazing book called 'The Curious Incident Of The Dog In The Night' by "Mark Haddon'

So now I need a new book to read!

Do any of you fine people have any recommendations for me?

...forgot to mention that for an adult I am far too excited about the imminent new harry potter book and no I am not shamed of this!

I moderate a big public book club called Books & Bars. Check our books we've done for ideas if interested. We welcome out of town readers to use the forum.

I see your discussing David Mitchell soon, the book I read just before The Curious Incident With The Dog At Night was Ghostwritten by him, I might be wrong but I think it was his first novel...it was kinda weird and I got bored at times but I enjoyed most of it, I thought interlinking nine stories was a great idea, I like Paul Auster's books and the reason I picked up Ghostwritten was because I read online that he references one of his books.

The New York-trilogy by Paul Auster is a good one. A bit strange but still brilliant.

so true, that was the first Paul Auster I read!

My favourite is The Book Of Illusions - Hector Mann is my favourite character in any book I've ever read.

Love that one too...

I've also read "Travels in the Scriptorium", "The Oracle Night" and I'm currently reading "Brooklyn Follies". Paul Auster is simply one of my favorite authors.

Travels In The Scriptorium is the next Paul Auster book I'm going to read. My friend loves him and has all his books so I just get them from him but I try to read a few other books between each one.

I've read three of his books so far, the two mentioned above and also the music of chance which I really loved aswell....did you know they made that book into a film? I keep meaning to try and find it, James Spader is in it.

I didn't even know it was possible to make any of his books into a movie. blink.gif They're usually pretty strange...

I was quite surprised to find out myself, I went through a phase of watching lots of Harvey Keitel movies when I was younger and I watched one called 'Smoke' which was a bit strange but in a cool way and it turns out that Paul Auster wrote the screenplay for that aswell.

I'm gonna IMDB Paul Auster now, just to check what he's done in the movie industry.

Apparently he has written, directed and produced a movie called "The Inner Life of Martin Frost". Gotta se that one!

Im sure that in The Book Of Illusions one of Hector Mann's never seen films is called The Inner Life Of Martin Frost

I've got no memory of that. Must be because I read it in swedish so it wouldn't be called the same I guess.

EDIT: You were right! It is mentioned in The Book of Illusions. The genious of Paul Auster has once again shown itself.

I havn't read any Auster at all, so I cant say anything about him or his books, but I can agree with mr stephen, "The Curious Incident Of The Dog In The Night" is really good!

I've got a book by swedish writer Jens Ganman which i think resembles it, it's called "Blod och Död" which straighly translated is "Blood and Death". I have no idea whether it can be found translated to english or not. It's pretty good and interesting. and fun.

I love David Mitchell's Black Swan Green. It couldn't be more different than Cloud Atlas (which I enjoyed but GOSH what hard work!) Linear plot and everything. Whoo!

I would recommend to anyone Slaughterhouse Five - Kurt Vonnegut. It's made me into a bit of a Vonnegut obsessive though and after reading Cat's Cradle (also excellent) I am now on Breakfast of Champions.
