dra- 02-28-2007
i would love to get my hands on those.

Karen- 02-28-2007
Oh, I'd love it too, please. Sometimes I play some songs with my guitar, but everytime I play them I do it very different than the last time, and it worries me : p

mr stephen- 03-01-2007
as i said above i dont have them uploaded but if you message me with your email address ill gladly pass them on

allansson- 03-06-2007
Feels good to see that I had already figured out both of the ones at indieguitartabs.com. I've also figured out the beginning of Baby, We'll Be Fine.

mr stephen- 03-07-2007
I was getting quite a lot of emails requesting these tabs so ive decided to post them up here, the tabs arent my work and i dont know who made them so they are uncredited for which i apologise.

P.S. I Also apologise for the extremely long post tongue.gif

hope you all enjoy!

The National - Abel

guitar 1: C F5 G

guitar 2: D----10-10-10-10-10-10-10-10-10-12-12-12-12-12-12-12-12-12

changes to this

now back to very first riff, guitar 1 strumming pattern gets faster
and more regular during the second riff above and slows down again
when guitar 2 goes back to the first one (watch the video if you need
help you can pick up some stuff from there)

Now the bridge - this is gonna take ages:

guitar 1:

--5--8---12--10--8---3---
--5--8---8---8---8---3---
--5--9---9---9---9---4---
--7--10--10--10--10--5---
--7--x---x---x---x---x---
--x--x---x---x---x---x---

second or third time around add a pinkie on the last chord and play this,
xx5435
a note of caution, the above is how I play it as its a little easier
to get around the board, I think they might be playing this:
x10x988
with the changes as described above of course. Please remember this
chord type with a string muted when I tab guitar two for the bridge as
you can change those to this type also. They play the same to begin
with and just change the final chord which is below

Guitar 2: x9x877

The national – baby we’ll be fine

1.All night i lay on my pillow...Bm Asus2 G Em can use Asus4 here but i think 2 sounds better, can match rhythm of song with some clever downstokes on Em

2.All we gotta do...C G Asus4 Am Em

3.Im so sorry for everything...G Em C G

Think these are more or less the chords, play around with different versions of them and maybe you can make it sound better

riff or melody line:
E--2--0--3--0
B---3--3--3--0

above is very basic, meant as a guide play around inserting more notes where needed, i know the last sring is played as a slide sliding from 3 to 5 at one point, i will tab it properly. And yes crap or incomplete tab does suck but im just giving it a go cause it takes ages, and again please dont bust my balls. Oh and I just remembered I got a damn good version of 'soho riots', email me if anyone wants it and ill tab it properly for you. Hope this helps, damn i couldnt have been more verbose if i had tried

above x2, can omit note in brackets if you want

----2---2---2-----2---

--2-------------------

x2 then repeat both - changes to:

----------------------------
---------------2------------
-------2---4-----4----------
-----2---2---2-----2--------
---2------------------------
----------------------------

Body of song can use...A Fm and then a Bm when song changes

How can anyone know...D Fm A

Break my arms around...D Fm Bm A

I’m a little unsure of the Fm in this song but it sounds about right

Fmin could be F#min

Chorus Chords(?):

The National – The Geese Of Beverly Road

Well take ourselves out...Am C Csus4 C

Hey love, well get away...C G Dm F or G

here you can use a combo of both F & G, or just the chords on their own.

Were the heirs to the glimmering world...C Am Csus4

These chords repeated over and over at the end for..

'...come be my waitress' Oh and end on a big fat C chord.

Hope this makes sense, nice song to strum i think, i might try and tab some of the guitar parts, but you can use these chords to pick out notes to make it sound more like the song if youre feeling brave. Its just some hammer ons based around Am C - try it out.

chendizzle- 03-23-2007
I know it was mentioned but here's the url for some other National tabs:

I'd be grateful if you could post the piano tab, i'm just learning the basics on a keyboard at the moment but my friends got a piano and I plan on showing off next time i'm at his flat tongue.gif

and no problemo chendizzle, i've got lots of tabs on my hard drive for lots of different bands so if your stuck looking for something feel free to ask

hope you can work this out - C4 is middle C (so on a midi keyboard like mine thats C3) C4 on a piano. I havent put in timing or anything because I CAN'T. These are simply the changes and youll have to use the song to get the timing and how the notes are played. This looks hard but it aint - the hardest part being playing the bass and treble notes in a slightly different rhythm. So as you can see there are three different changes above and the last is the bridge before the second verse. As you can see they seem to be playing the first two notes of major chords, with single bass notes most of the time.

C5--B4--C5--B4

last part came out wrong above!

mr stephen- 03-25-2007
thanks for that, I think i'll be able to work it out

mr stephen- 03-26-2007
aaaargh - the piano part is driving me mad! I can almost get it but I can't quite co-ordinate my fingers to play the rhythm correctly....I'll maybe just stick to the guitar for now

mr stephen- 03-31-2007
Slow Show

*C, *C, Fmaj7, C, Fmaj7, C, G, G -

E, A, B, A

*C (hammer on the D string)

I think this is mostly correct. However it's not complete and I'm not sure about the B chord - I've been playing all open chords and playing the B on the 7th fret and only strumming the top 4 strings...try it and see how you get on and let me know of any amendments.

I'll try and work out the piano notes in the middle and transcribe them for guitar because it doesn't sound too complicated.

allansson- 03-31-2007
I'll try and play this as soon as I get a new string for my acoustic guitar. Thanks anyway!
